Founded by Kayo Yasuhara in 2007, Komachi Montréal continues the tradition of Minyo in Québec. Minyo (民謡) dance is richly diverse, with each region of Japan offering a multitude of songs and dances. Celebrating life and its people, it evokes the memories of a simpler time.
Kayo studied theatre at the University of Tamagawa in Tokyo. Her passion for traditional Japanese arts led her to study kyogen, kabuki, kodan, rakugo and taiko. She has performed all around the world, including Tokyo, Montréal, Québec, and New York.
